Steal the Bacon
Steal the Bacon is a classic group game where two teams of players compete head to head to steal a beanbag and get it back to their side without being tagged.
Game Setup:
Equipment:
- 1 Bean bag (or any other small item that is soft yet durable)
Setup:
Align players by height, and assign every other person to the same team, resulting in 2 teams even by height.
Then, go down each team (still by height) and assign numbers to each player, starting at #1 (so the tallest on both teams would be player #1).
Place the beanbag in the center of your play area, with both teams 10-15 feet away.
Rules:
- The game leader will call out a single number. As soon as the number is called, players who are assigned that number run to grab the beanbag.
- If a player gets the beanbag back to their team area without being tagged, the player scores a point for his team.
- If a player gets tagged while carrying the beanbag, the player who tagged the other scores a point for his team.
The game ends after at least everyone’s number has been called. I recommend setting a time limit.
Variations:
- If you’re playing this on a holiday, replace the beanbag with a holiday item.
- Call two numbers instead of one at the end of the game. Players must wait to run out until both numbers are called.
